Defining good governance

The Arab World Center for Democratic Development and Human Rights, in partnership with the German Hanns Seidel Foundation, held a two-day workshop entitled “Defining Good Governance” in the city of Irbid, with participants from various governorates of the Kingdom.

The trainers in the workshop, Mr. ZyadAl-Alawna, and Mr. Raad Al-Hasanat from MoPPA, said thatgood governance is a ruling intended to exercise political, economic and administrative authority to run state affairs, and it includes the state, the private sector and civil society institutions and works to activate the concept of participation.

At the end of the workshop, the participants came out with a set of recommendations, including the development of a curriculum on good governance, to be taught in “schools” to create a conscious, aware and educated generation. Highlighting the importance of spreading knowledge about good governance in all institutions and applying it as quickly as possible, forming a special committee for training and rehabilitation on the subject and assigning a team to raise awareness and educate people about good governance, and holding awareness workshops on the issue in remote areas and far from cities, and to call on the government to take the initiative to issue a guide and a special law on good governance.
