Dr. Mustafa added that a group of experts and specialists in the field led the meetings, and the participants in the meetings came out with many recommendations, which will be submitted through the center to the related decision making authorities.

The experts focused during the workshops and meetings on a number of aspects, including the importance of the youth and women participation in the electoral process in order to choose their representatives in municipal and governorate councils, in addition to explaining the details of the local administration law, which gave an opportunity to enhance the participation of youth and women in the elections by setting the age of candidacy at 25 years .

The meetings also provided an explanation of the women’s quota mechanism, to which the law allocates 25% of the provincial council seats, as well as the municipal council seats to be filled by female candidates who obtained the highest votes in proportion to the number of voters within their electoral district who were not fortunate to win the direct election.

It is worth noting that the project “Strengthening the Role of Youth and Women in Municipal and Governorate Council Elections 2022” was launched under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Eng.
